Thank you to everyone who responded to our survey last month. Your responses really helped us to better understand what information you need to feel confident about applying to become a LiveOps independent agent.

I want to use this month's eNewsletter to address some of the questions we received.

I hope these answers will help you choose to take that first step and apply to work from home with LiveOps today.

How can you determine if this is a legitimate work-from-home opportunity?

Checking the Better Business Bureau website is a good way to learn more about a company and I'm proud to say that LiveOps maintains an A+ rating! You can also visit our agent community page on Facebook to see what independent agents are saying.

What are the costs to get started?

It does not cost anything to apply. Applying online to see if your business meets the basic qualifications for the opportunity that interest you is a great first step.

If you qualify for an open opportunity, there are a few costs that you should consider before accepting the invitation. First, you will need to purchase and pass a credit and background check (currently $65 for most applicants) through the company indicated in your invitation.

Independent agents have access to sensitive information, so passing this check is an important way for you to establish trust with the clients for whom you will be providing services and is common in the call center industry.

Second, you should review the phone and computer requirements to determine what you need for your home office. You will not need to set up your office when you apply, but you will want to be ready to get your phone and internet up and running shortly after you accept the contract. These costs will vary depending on what you currently have for a computer, phone and internet service.

Purchasing and maintaining your own office equipment is common practice for independent contractors. You will also need to maintain your phone and internet services.

LiveOps does not charge fees for access to our Call Center platform, and our client-mandated certification sessions are free to agents. Unlike some business opportunities, LiveOps does not ask agents to purchase products, client lists, or other materials.

What if I can't afford the background and credit check?

Unfortunately, we are not able to waive this client requirement. Independent agents have access to business and customer data and our clients need to take reasonable measures, including requiring background and credit checks, to protect this data. Some agents use tax refunds, or ask for money in lieu of birthday or Christmas gifts to help them get started.
