When I became pregnant with my first son, I had a promising career at a great company. I loved the work I did, but it required a significant time commitment. I knew I couldn't be the mom I wanted to be if I was drained from a long day at the office and a long commute. I took a leap and decided to leave my job to focus on finding the perfect work-at-home solution for my family, and two years later I couldn't be happier.
If I could tell new moms one thing, it would be that there are options; they do not have to go back to work outside the home if they don’t want to. You don’t have to dread the day your maternity leave ends or agonize over how you will leave your child. You can find work for moms who want to stay home. I actually tried several things before finding something that was the right fit for me.
Workplace flexibility is a growing trend offering more legitimate work at home for moms to choose from. Searches for flexible careers, telecommuting, and remote work will yield many options to choose from – and many scams (see our article on avoiding work from home scams). With some determination and due diligence you can find legitimate work for moms that meets your needs.
In my current role, I help raise awareness of the work-at-home opportunities at LiveOps, a leader in flexible, work-at-home opportunities. We work hard to help bring work-at-home opportunities to more people across the United States and we support campaigns like 1 Million for Work Flexibility to help champion flexible work. Our virtual call center offers premiere opportunities for people to work at home on their own terms, and many of our independent agents are work-at-home moms like me.
"Being a LiveOps independent agent has allowed me to still be that stay-at-home mom I have always dreamed of being!"
Working at LiveOps, I hear from many work-at-home moms like Danyel who did the research and decided that being a LiveOps independent call center agent was right for them. Our independent contractor model gives moms the flexibility they need to fit work into their family’s schedule, and with our award-winning onboarding certification and supportive community you can build a business of your own without being on your own.
If you are struggling with the decision to go back to work after maternity leave or having a tough time juggling work and being the mom you want to be, I encourage you to look into alternatives like LiveOps that offer flexible work for moms.
